When Life Hands You Crumbly Bread...

Day 12:

Sick, sick, sick.  Yep, that about sums it up.  We are all in various stages of respiratory distress and have resorted to hunkering down in our bedroom with the AC on.  Would love to see some rain, soon!  My throat is hurting so bad and I'm on the verge of going to the pharmacy for antibiotics, but want to be sure it's not going to go away on its own.  So far it hasn't.

So today was filled with rest, water, and Veggie Tales.  I sure do hate hearing my kids cough, and having to make them stay inside.

Okay, if you'll remember the other day I attempted to make bread with my new kitchen aid, but it did something weird and was all crumbly. So, Doug and I decided to make a breakfast casserole for dinner and bread pudding for dessert.  We used almost all of the crumbly bread and I have fresh bread in the oven as I type...SCORE.
Breakfast casserole: crumbly bread on bottom, scrambled eggs, breakfast sausage, and cheese...of course.  I have to make my own breakfast sausage seasoning cause you can't buy jimmy dean here.  Doug made bread pudding!

Pi Tang Moo stopped by while we were making dinner so we asked her to stay. She said she liked the food!

We still struggle with Kees's eating habits on a regular basis.  For now we are trying to enforce eating what is on his plate at dinner time and if he's hungry later he can go back and finish the food from dinner.  When he finally finished tonight, we got to have our popcorn and iced cocoa.

After dinner we watched Beauty and the Beast and had popcorn.  I also made iced cocoa, because there is almost never an occasion to drink it hot here.  Kees chugged his so fast and then wanted to know where the pitcher of it went to.  I had already poured it into our glasses and ended up having to share mine with him.  We enjoyed our Chococashew thingys as well, those pixy stick things that have something similar to nutella in them. Best. Idea. Ever.
While I was making popcorn...these are the bottles of water we have delivered from a water truck. We get two cases every week for $2.  The tap water is not drinkable here, so we have to keep these handy to cook with, drink, and wash produce.

This is how we make popcorn, microwaveable popcorn is a lot more expensive here and we don't have a microwave anymore...since we moved.  The iced cocoa was so yummy!

Eating their Chococashew thingys.
My good word of the day is...rest when you need to and try not to feel bad about it.  God rested, so you should too. I'm mostly reminding myself because I always feel so guilty when I'm sick because my family doesn't stop needing me when I don't feel well.  But I'll be a better mom if I take the rest I need and get back to 100%.  So, tomorrow is Saturday, take some time to rest and reflect on God's love for you, soak it in.  Love, love, love from all of us sickies!

  2. Rest...good advice. I had surgery yesterday and am feeling kind of guilty about laying around, as if I had a choice. I hope God blesses Chiang Mai with rain and washes the air very soon. Hate to think about you all being sick.
