Flashback Friday: Branson 2014

Friday:

We got to the resort on Thursday afternoon.  We took the kids to do finger painting at the club house the first morning.

When we got back from the club house the vacation fairy had brought gifts for the kids.  Kees said, if it's a boy, it's the vacation zombie.

We planned menus ahead of time and assigned kitchen duty.  Friday evening Grampa made mini tortilla pizzas with the grandkids.  The recipe and step by step instructions can be found here.

While we were at the club house we traced the kids handprints for Gramee. At the end of the week, we finally remembered to trace Gramee and Grampa's hands too.  So cute!

Headed to the hotel lobby area, where they were showing the Lego Movie on the big screen.  We went swimming right after.

When we got back to our room, Grampa mixed up the Root Beer Float popsicles and got them in their molds.  They were yummy!  Recipe is here.

Saturday:

In the morning, on Saturday, Grampa made donuts.  The kids helped, mostly by licking up excess icing.

Kora used her flashlight to inspect Grampa's work.

Doug made fried rice for lunch.

The kids got more prizes from the vacation fairy. Deanna immediately disassembled her pen.

Aunt Kristee and Kora both love books!

Gramee brought crafts for the kids (leftover from VBS)

Yum!  I had a Dr. Pepper Float popsicle.

Playing a game

Deanna loves sorting.  She shared her jewels with Kees.

3-D movie: Planes Fire and Rescue

Tether ball

More swimming, our kids got so brave!

Sunday:

Ready for church

Several of us took naps, then we headed to the Branson landing to shop and see the light and water show.

Kora was too tired.

Grampa got strawberry lemonade icees for the kids. Kora was still asleep so I got hers.  When she woke up, Kees said, "Kora, look at this yummy drink!  If momma doesn't want to give yours back to you, I'll share mine with you."  Tempting, but I let her have hers.

Kees loved the show, he clapped lots.

This is a store, like build-a-bear, but you build a car.

Kees did not want to ride Garfield. He was unimpressed.

This was the elevator in the parking garage. Ironic that Kora is making a guilty face, because on the next elevator ride, at the hotel, she pushed the emergency call button.

Rainbow

Night time swim!

More crafting, the kids are wearing new shirts that Gramee and Grampa bought them.

Monday:

Kiddos in their new shirts.

Tether ball

The day we finally decided to play tether ball and it was broken!  Grampa did his best to fix it up for us.

Kora was wrapped in her towel and she looked like a Geisha warrior princess.  She sat down in protest and refused to be photographed.

They found some type of bug colony.

Shhhhh!

Deanna sat out here for the longest time, enjoying her bubbles and avoiding the bugs.

My sister, who loves books, gave each of the kids a new book each day of the trip.  Kora loved this one about a mouse with a purple purse.

Zonked out!

Kees with a leaf he found.

This is Kees making a meal plan: "Cotton candy, french fry soup, chicken nuggets, what next?, a peanut  butter roll up!"

His duck also needed a meal plan.  One day when we were heading out to the pool to meet everyone else, Kees had to run back to check on his duck, he said, "Okay, duckee, we're going swimming, we'll be right back.  If you get hungry there's a snack in my orange bag, right here, not the striped Mickey Mouse bag, that's Kora's!  We'll be right back.  And there's a pillow if you get sleepy and want to go nigh nigh."

As soon as Kora woke up, she bolted over to where Kees and Deanna were sitting.  She didn't miss a beat.

She started posing. You'd think someone has a camera in her face all the time.

So precious, this duck came with us from Thailand. Kees recently started taking him everywhere.  His name is Marvel.  He's in need of a bath. :)

Kora calls this chipmunk "gowl (girl) baby", she wanted Doug to babysit.  Looks likes he's a really attentive caretaker.

Tuesday:

Gramee made chocolate chip cookies!!!

Grampa and Doug took the kids to play frisbee golf.  I told Doug to take pictures.  Fifteen minutes later, in the middle of making lunch, I hunted them down to take these. Guess how many Doug took.  ZERO.

The kids were so happy to see me. I spent about ten minutes following them and taking pictures.  After I left, Doug said they kept whining and asking for me.  Whoops, maybe next time Doug should actually take pictures, so I don't have to disturb the fun. :)

We had "Bowtie Festival Knock-off" for lunch.  It's similar to one of our favorite dishes from Johnny Carino's.  I'll post the recipe soon, stay tuned.

Getting ready to go to see Jonah at the Sight and Sound theatre.

Kora was playing with Uncle Jason and Aunt Kristee.

Getting ready to load up.

Kees was taking notes of everything he saw on the way to the car.

Are you ready to go see Jonah???

Kora licking the glass door, and Kees had to join in.

Wednesday:

Rainy day!  Everyone stayed in, but I went with Gramee and Grampa shopping.  Grampa bought the kids their own lego candy boxes.  Overboard much?

When we got back, Kora had drawn stripes on her leg.

Kees went to Branson when he was a few months and I got a picture of him with this bicycle. Of course when we went back to re-inact that photo, we had to walk through the rain, and I neglected to check the schedule. There was a hoard of people in the room for a wine and cheese tasting.  Kees was overwhelmed with the noise and everyone looking at us and this was the best we could do.

Another craft with Gramee.  Great for a rainy day activity.

Last night, playing with Grampa.

Dance party!

Kees telling a ghost story.

Trying to clear out the freezer. Kora was happy to help with this!

Reading with Gramee

Thursday:

On the road again. We left at 9:30, headed back to my parent's place, in Paden.  Once we got to their place, we unloaded, and re-loaded, then headed to Doug's family's farm.  We got there around 6 in the evening. It was a long day, but filled with family!

Kees loved the tunnel!

Lunch!

The grandparents know Kora loves corn and they made sure to slip her some.

Coloring in the books that Gramee gave them, or was it the vacation fairy?

Watching the Wizard of Oz.

Marvel is strapped in.

Notice Doug napping in the back seat!  And those trays actually made it back with us to Idaho!

Kora and Kees are sharing.  They took turns with the bag of powdered donuts and Dr. Pepper slushee.  Kees initiated this exchange.  They are so cute!

Now we're headed to the farm!

Jacob waving to us as we drove up.

I love this barn!  There's a ton of fun things inside. I took over 700 photos while we were at the farm! There'll be more in next week's post, but I'll try to just pick the best of the best. Easier said than done.

Kees doesn't wake up quite as chipper as Miss Kora.

Whew!  That was a lot.  Sure do love my family!
